Door and window technology: technical performance analysis of strip-through heat-insulating aluminum profile The strip-through heat-insulating aluminum profile is to use heat insulation strips to mechanically combine two aluminum profiles inside and outside into a unified whole. Due to the doors and windows made of strip-through heat-insulating aluminum profiles, curtain wall products can significantly improve the thermal insulation effect, and the strip-through equipment can reduce a large amount of energy consumption for building insulation and effectively reduce carbon emissions.

Speaking of wearing strip-type heat-insulating aluminum profiles, one has to talk about heat-insulating strips. The main component of mainstream insulation strip is polyamide nylon (PA66) + 25% glass fiber, commonly known as PA66GF25 insulation strip. This insulation strip has the closest expansion coefficient to aluminum, has good aging resistance, is stable, and wears the strip equipment. It has accumulated a good reputation in the door, window and curtain wall industry. Recently, illegal manufacturers have used PVC insulation strips to produce wear strip insulation profiles, which will bring huge safety hazards. The figure below is an experimental comparison of two kinds of insulation strips, which shows that the use of PA66GF25 insulation strips is the guarantee of product quality.

Where does the insulation profile come from? It is said that more than 30 years ago, in the European continent, a person named Ensinger invented nylon insulation strips and applied for a patent. The standard heat insulation profile is usually structured as A profile + 2 heat insulation strips + B profile, such a structure is stable in size (as shown below)

Theoretically speaking, the longer the insulation strip of the insulation profile, the better the insulation performance of the profile of the piercing device. However, the length of the heat insulation strip is limited by its own strength, production technology and stability. For the most well-known brand of heat insulation strips in China, the shortest length is 12mm and the longest length is 32mm. In our daily work, we usually use heat-insulating strips of three sizes: 14.8mm, 20mm, 22mm and so on. The dimensions of the notch of the heat-insulating strip and the head of the heat-insulating strip of the aluminum profile have formed a standardized size after years of exploration, which can be used in the design. In particular, it should be pointed out that the notch of the heat insulation strip of the aluminum profile not only takes into account the cooperation with the heat insulation strip, but also extends the life of the aluminum profile extrusion die, reduces the occurrence of surface coating cracks after rolling, and is beneficial to the guarantee of gear hobbing. These three factors are the shear resistance of thermal insulation materials.

There are 4 main types of heat insulation strips in shape:

1. Type I heat insulation strip, the most common and the least consumable

2. The C-shaped heat insulation strip can make the exposed surface of the heat insulation strip flush with the profile, reducing the accumulation of water.

3. T-shaped heat insulation strips are generally used in the structure of internal opening windows, an important part of the isobaric cavity, which is convenient for drainage.

4. O type heat insulation strip, generally used for single heat insulation profile

It is worth mentioning that the profile using O-shaped insulation strips originated from the island countries of the Western Pacific. The size and technical indicators of the profiles produced by the striping equipment are similar to those of conventional strip strips. The meter weight of the profile is 5% lower than that of the profile with double insulation strips. However, heat-insulating aluminum profiles using O-shaped strips are not suitable for stress-bearing parts that require high dimensional accuracy. Such as swing door leaf, sliding door leaf and so on.

80% of the profiles of our newly developed GRB85 series of heat-insulating sliding windows are O-shaped heat-insulating strips. After the deep-processing workshop modified the striping equipment, the composite profile size, tensile and shear resistance reached the requirements.
